Studying at Toyo Hakusan campus has been the worst learning experience I have had to date. I attend Toyo on a 6 month student exchange continuing my Urban and Regional Planning degree. First off the exchange program required me to take a basic Japanese course (Nest 1) using one of my elective units. This class has a total of 3 different teachers with different teaching styles taking the class weekly so I was unable to create a teacher/student rapport. The speed of which the teachers speak and the class moves ahead is too fast to retain any information, and the homework which is handed out is written in a way that is very confusing. Moving on to the classes more closely related to my degree, I choose Evolving frameworks for Resolving International Conflicts, Disaster Management, Urban and Regional Planning in Asia, and my Personal favorite Soccer class ha ha. These classes were interesting enough However I found the assignements to easy which made the classes somewhat boring. I spent more time working on the Nest 1 class (Elective) then the core classes related to my degree. I will give postive notes towards the Soccer class and the Toyo stadium, I had zero soccer experience before coming to Japan but got significantly better with each class. The so called \world famous\ cafeteria 6 is overated in my personal opinion but I'm sure this critique will be subjective to personal opinion. Overall in terms of my education I felt that exchange at Toyo has set me back and I have lost momentum in my degree.
