A must go if you want to discover more about Ainu culture ! And in top of that you can do some embroidery or wood carving workshop ! Spent one over there and could have stayed more

Beautiful, educational, inspirational and in our day and age of seeing how climate and nature is getting back at us, be reminded of a different way of thinking when it comes to our planet.

Interesting to learn about Ainu culture, but do not go out of your way for this. The workshops and shows are very brief, generally from 10-25 minutes, but need to be booked beforehand by standing in line more than 10-30 minutes prior to the start of the show. Ticket distribution will then begin 10-30 minutes prior to the show. In addition, a completely separate, though free, ticket must be booked from a different website and is needed to enter the museum. Unfortunately, despite the museum being below capacity, we were not allowed to wait or to standby for an earlier entry time. Despite the multilingual website, the announcements, signage, menus, and staff are not available in English or other languages. Japanese and English pamphlets do not have the same information; importantly, this includes show times. This museum is for domestic visitors. I was very disappointed in this museum as an international visitor, but hope it can succeed in its valuable mission.

Passionate staff. Beautiful facities. Interesting history, and not just history. Will definitely be back. Note that entrance to museum exhibit is currently limited - best to book online in advance.

Definitely worth half a day for your travel itinerary. Some programs are only performed once a day so remember to check schedules and plan your day out in advance.
