Walked about to Yamate hill area with many beautiful English and French homes and gardens . Came across St Francis Xavier 's Sacred Heart Cathedral . First Church built in Yokohama after his arrival . There is a historical description about the Church. It was an amazing walk about. Past the Church and walked down towards Motomachi .

Because of limited parishioners to go inside coz of pandemic, we were not allowed to go inside, until mass ended. A very solemn place, very nice architectural structure, have english mass every Saturday..

I went to this Church two Sundays in a row, July 28th and August 4th, while visiting my son in Yokohama. It felt just like being at home at my parish. There were people of all ages and a decent group of people in the choir singing. The priest was from Uganda, I believe. He was very pleasant and brought me and my son into the main church to see it after mass even though he was very busy and had to travel somewhere to say another mass. The church was closed while they are doing renovations, and the mass was held in the basement. But as always, we Catholics can manage with anything on hand as long as there is a priest to offer the sacrifice and provide the Eucharist for us! There is a nice little gift shop along with the church as well. Very down to earth. People are nice at the English Mass, 10:30 am.
