説明板より 本地は全国でも極めてめずらしい一字一番地の地であり、面積も四八七平方メートル(一四七.三坪)という日本一小さい字区域である。 安政三年の旧黒松内山道(現道々寿都黒松内線)開削に貢献した佐藤栄五郎、その父定右衛門等の労を賞し、通行人に告げた制札が立ったことに由来している。 本年、山道開さく一三〇周年にあたり、記念事業としてここに建立する。 （当地は静岡県清水町に在住の亀山不二？氏より寄附されたものであります。) 昭和六十二年十月三日
