Very good set menu, Japanese Swedish fusion, which tastes great. Beautiful restaurant with great views & friendly staff. It's as though the whole place has been lifted from rural Sweden. Conveniently located on the venus line road, it makes for a great meal time stop.
I was intrigued in this Swedish restaurant for a long time as I had driven past this place on numerous occasions after hiking the Yatsugatake mountain range and always wanted to drop in for a bite to eat. However, it was either shut (Wednesdays is their day off and mine) or I had other plans. Finally, after 7 years of trying, last weekend I finally managed to pop in and try this evasive Swedish gourmet. I was not disappointed, as it was very good! I chose the set menu, which included salmon, herring, cod, lamb, soup and a variety of delicious vegetables and a dessert and coffee. Service was good, prices reasonable, I paid 1,800 yen for the lunch course, and the establishment was comfortable, in a log housey sort of way. If you have never eaten and are curious about Swedish food, then I highly recommend Gamlastan!

A beautiful Swedish restaurant out in the mountains between Chino and Saku, Gamla Stan offers reasonably-priced culinary masterpiece six-course meals. Though you can order piece-meal, I highly recommend choosing one of the two course meals, steak or fish. The fish is fantastic, but I can't help but get the steak every time since it's often accompanied with salisbury steak with beet sauce. Both course meals start with thinly sliced fish with a light mustard sauce, followed by a cream soup, homemade (legit) rye-bread, chilled salad, and the main dish. Each aspect of the meal is majestically made and blends well with the others; You can really cherish each bite. For dessert, you usually get a small slice of cake with ice cream and fruit, paired with your choice of Ceylon tea or coffee. The chef, though not the Swedish chef from the muppets, studied Swedish cooking in its homeland. He speaks English fairly well, too, so if your Japanese isn't up to par, don't worry! 1700 yen for lunch, slightly more for dinner.
ランチで何度か利用しています。味も美味しく、雰囲気、接客も良いお店です。 唯一希望は、ランチのメニューがずっと同じなので、定期的か季節ごとなどで変えて頂けると良いかなとは思います。
1800円のコースをいただきました。 スウェーデン料理は初めてでしたが、美味しく頂けました。少し癖のある味なので、駄目な人はだめかもしれません。 雰囲気も良くて、テラス席ワンコOKなのもGOODです
