Expensive ride (about 1600 yen round trip). There was a photo spot at the base where you could pose wearing train conductor uniforms but that area only opens up when the trains start to board so you will lose prime seating if you want a costume selfie. Once at the top there is a nice lookout ledge but not a lot that you see without 1000 yen entry to the temple or paying another 1000 yen for the bus up the mountain to the garden. It was a disappointing feeling of extortion as I had not researched the details beforehand.

日本最古及び日本最長ケーブルカーとのことで、とにかく全てにおいて歴史を感じる趣きのあるケーブルカーです… 車内では、車窓から望める眺望について、これまた趣きのある運転士さん自らが説明するガイド付きで、11分の乗車時間では物足りないぐらいの乗り心地でした。 ダイヤについては、一時間に二本の運行で、00分と30分の定時運行になります。
一度、乗れば良いかな 紅葉をと思い、来てみましたが…
比叡山側最終駅からの琵琶湖の景色は絶景です。比叡山まではゆっくり歩いて10分ほど。大半が緩やかな登り道ですが、お年寄りでも大丈夫な登りです。
ケーブルカーに乗っている最中の景色も最高だし、山の上の駅からの眺めも最高でした。
晩秋に坂本から歩いて２時間ほどで登りました。下りはもちろんケーブルで。天気が良くてよかった️
