Visited two weeks ago. The weather changes fast, cloudy with occasional showers. My wife and I were not prepared for the weather. However, Iwamoto-san prepared rain boots for us to keep us from the muddy path, and also explained the lake area in detailed. Would love to visit again in sunny weather & winter (heard winter is beautiful).

We booked for 7 days car rental with JR Eki Rent-a-car through Shiretoko Tourist, about a week prior to the trip in January 2020. The price we paid was around JPY 28,000 for a 4WD Toyota Vitz with winter tyres fitted. The price includes all the options like CDW and NOC coverage, JAF road-side assistance, ETC card rental, even returning to a different branch. Most other car rental companies quoted around JPY 50,000 to JPY 60,000 for the same options when doing the booking online. The only difference is that the fee has to be paid upfront using a credit card (since they are essentially acting as a travel agent). Initially we had some concern as we are not paying directly to the car rental company. However, everything went smoothly when we arrived at the airport and picked up the car. The car rental company (in our case it was JR Eki) immediately recognised our booking when we mentioned that we booked through Shiretoko Tourist. I would definitely recommend them for renting a car when travelling in Japan for their best value, and smooth booking process. Their replies and confirmation were very quick, and addressed our questions and concerns sufficiently.

I've used Shiretoko Tourist for all my car rental needs in Japan, and they have always provided quick and friendly service at great rates! They have handled my car rentals for Hokkaido, Kyoto, Okayama and Okinawa, all with great service and price. Will definitely use their service in the future for driving in Japan!

We used Shiretoko to book our car hire last month. They responded so quickly after each question I asked. Offered us alternative cars. When we had to change our booking the day we were supposed to pick it up they moved it to the next day. Excellent service!!
