It is the only direct line that connects Chichibu, Hanno and Tokorozawa with Ikebukuro. And there are many other stations, mostly smaller ones, in-between. The trains are mostly overcrowded during rush hours, but very comfortable the rest of the day. Traveling to Shibuya and Yokohama from Hanno, Tokorozawa and Nerima is possible with the F-Liner and the new S-Train. Also, traveling to Toyosu from Hanno and Tokorozawa and vice versa is possible. From Nerima the Seibu Ikebukuro line turns into the Yurakucho Metro line which stops at Iidabashi, Sakuradamon (emperor's palace), Yurakucho (Tokyo International Forum / Tokyo station) and Tsukishima (fish market).

西武池袋線メインステーション。届出,受取り共に明確に対応してくれる。西武最古の新宿線の次に開通し進展を遂げて来た。駅ナカの店舗も充実、そしてこの駅のトイレは都内でも指折りランク。衛生管理が良く綺麗で広目の内部には更衣室も在る。森林の芳香剤の香りと共にクラシックや雅楽他とかが流れていて通勤や通学の合間をリラックスさせてくれる。何か豪華で得した気分他の某駅と比較しない様にしているものの実際無理本来の美意識とかお洒落感覚とかのパブリックな趣。…テンション上がるんですけど … ?あっ！不必要な立ち入りとかは禁止！一応念の為
対応は良い。池袋で落としたときは他の鉄道会社の落とし物センターと警察にも電話したほうが良い。学生証は裏に住所を書いていたので後日、警察から手紙が来た。
