The observation deck on top of this station offers one of the best views of the Japan Alps. A visit to this place would surely be a memorable one. It is best to bring your loved ones along for the ride to make your visit something to remember. Best time to visit is autumn, winter, and spring.

Breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Highly recommended. The mountain trail starts at the 4f.
Very stunning scenery all around but very very cold during winter.... Wear layers and gloves and something to protect your face from the blistering cold winds! Ropeway closes if there is strong wind though so check before you go.
On a clear day, the views from the top station (Nishihodakaguchi) are gorgeous, even in May, extending over 180 degrees. You can get out onto the snow, and there is some hiking to be had if you are that way inclined. It was also not crowded at all....no wait for the next gondola either way, and maybe 50 people in total that we saw. I would imagine the winter views and autumn would also be just wonderful. If you have your own car it is only an hour and a bit drive from Takayama or an hour and a half from Matsumoto, and if the weather is good I would really recommend it. I assume there are buses available if you do't have your own transport. Do take some warm clothes even in summer as if the clouds come in it gets very cold indeed. One of the best of such cable car rides that I have done anywhere in the world. You feel like you are a million miles from the rest of the world
When my family of five arrived here on December 23, 2017, it was -8 Celcius. It was so cold for all of us at the top of the premises. But when we went out again from an exit one floor down, it was relatively bearable and we all had a great time taking images of the snowy environ!
