We rented a Nissan Nova for 3 weeks in August and had an amazing trip around Hokkaido. We were a bit worried about the heat in the camper given Japan's hot summers but once we got to Hokkaido it wasn't really a problem, though we were grateful to have the fan in the back and the mosquito nets so we could leave the doors and windows open. Having a camper was an excellent way to explore Japan, I would definitely recommend it. We never had problems finding somewhere to stay, especially with the Japan Campers map and the Michi no Eki app. The camper was well equipped and had plenty of space for the two of us. We had a great experience with Japan Campers and would definitely recommend to others.

They still don't accept credit cards and as a result, any insurance offered through credit cards are not available. Even the extended insurance they offer is sketchy and there are a lot of coverage gaps. (Read the fine print!!!) They have been promising to change the payment system for a long time. Thankfully, we did not get into any accidents, but we were worried. Vehicles are also very old and gas mileage is low. Also, forget about getting your entire deposit back: there is a mandatory cleaning and linens fee that gets tacked on regardless of cleanliness.

I rented one of the budget mid sized vans with a friend for most of February. The van was great, the overnight heater worked really well, and it was well stocked for cooking. The winter tyres were so grippy, didn't need to use the chains that were included at all and we drove through pretty deep snow at times. The staff made the pickup and drop off process really easy!! No complaints what so ever, I would definitely go back!!!

Just finished 2 weeks of travelling in this small “Nissan Bross”. It has been 2 amazing weeks starting with the good service from JC. Pickup at station, introduction to iPad, car etc. Was just perfect. They have a friendly and relaxed tone which we liked a lot. The car is old and small and travelling 2 adults and 2 children is a challenge, but really funny and our own decision, that we did not rent a bigger car. We will definitely recommend booking a small car because the roads are really narrow. Not only in the city. After leaving the office we found a crack in a window and when we returned the car we told that it was there from the beginning and they trusted us. A really good experience. We will recommend to everybody.

We rented a Duo van from Japan Campers for a 10 day trip in Japan at the beginning of March. The van was a good size and had everything we needed. The van wasn’t new but it looked after us well and we had no issues. One minor issue was the curtains didn’t stay closed as velcro had previously come off, but we found a solution. We were picked up by JC at Narita City and dropped off at the end. Friendly staff. Loved travelling around in the van and we got to see a lot more of rural Japan. Michi-no-eki’s were fantastic. Ipad is provided also with lots of info and navigation. Would highly recommend and hope to return in the future.

I spent 5 days in a camper rented from these guys. The staff were awesome; very friendly and helpful. The van itself was in perfect condition. IMPORTANT: They give you an iPad free of charge with their own map installed. This map has been added to by other campers for many years and is SO useful. It shows places to stay, cool places to visit (photo stops, touristy stuff), locations of Onsens. I used it every day. Japan itself is very easy to drive around (I travelled alone and speak no Japanese and I had no problems whatsoever). If you want to visit Japan do it in a camper and book with these guys!

Travelling in a van is a Good way to discover Japan. Our experience with Japan Campers was good, the team is really helpful and can give you a full support during the trip. Van are old but work properly.
